An Unpredicted Win

Last Friday, I had my predictions as to who would win the games for the Jornada 11. In the opener, I was convinced that Monarcas would have taken the three points easily from Monterrey. For me, Monterrey was a team that was lost and had no idea on how to function. Monterrey head coach Jose Guadalupe Cruz had it in for all of us and gave us a great surprise on Friday with a 3-1 victory over Monarcas.

If Mexican league fans learned anything this year, it’s that everything has a price. We are more than used to jerseys smattered with more sponsors than a race car. However this summer took it to another level. We saw a rash of clubs being scooped up by other cities for coveted top flight position and the league receiving a ridiculous branding stamp right over its recently christened name.

Torta Tuesday: Jornada 11, Apertura 2012

With a midweek schedule, I'm rolling Torta Tuesday out again. It is however neither Tuesday nor a Torta kind of day. Hence, I name thee Flauta Friday. Home teams were 6-1-1 during this short week. It's tough traveling on such a short schedule.
